Indian travellers can now enjoy visa-free entry to the Philippines for short visits, as announced by the Philippines government in May 2025. This major policy change opens up exciting new opportunities for tourism and family visits without the hassle of visa paperwork.
Who Can Travel Visa-Free to the Philippines?
Effective immediately, Indian citizens holding any of the following valid visas or residence permits are eligible for visa-free entry into the Philippines:
- Valid US, UK, Schengen, Canada, Japan, Australia, or Singapore visa
- OR a valid residence permit from these countries
Entry Conditions
To qualify for visa-free entry:
- You must enter the Philippines through Manila, Cebu, or Davao international airports
- Your stay must not exceed 14 days
- You must present a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
- Return flight ticket and sufficient funds for your stay are mandatory
Note: The 14-day stay is non-extendable, and this visa-free access cannot be converted into other visa types such as work or student visas.
Why This Matters for Indian Tourists
This move makes it easier and faster for Indian citizens to visit the Philippines for:
- Leisure and tourism
- Short family visits
- Attending weddings or private events
- Exploring potential student or business opportunities
It also puts the Philippines among a growing list of Southeast Asian countries easing travel restrictions for Indian passport holders.
Planning Your Trip
Even though no pre-arranged visa is required, travellers must ensure:
- You meet the entry eligibility criteria
- Your visa/residence permit from the qualifying country is still valid on entry and exit
- You carry all necessary documentation, such as flight tickets, hotel bookings, and proof of income
Can You Extend or Change This Visa-Free Entry?
No. This visa-free entry:
- Cannot be extended beyond 14 days
- Cannot be converted to another visa while inside the Philippines
- Is intended strictly for short-term, non-work visits
If you wish to study or work in the Philippines, you must apply for a relevant visa before travelling.
