Travel to China Just Got Easier for Many Nationalities
China has introduced new visa-free entry and expanded transit policies for 2025. These updates open the door for smoother travel from India, the Gulf region, the UK, and beyond — helping students, families, and business travellers avoid delays and extra paperwork.
What’s changing for travellers in 2025
China now allows citizens of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait to enter without a visa for up to 15 days. This policy is applicable for tourism, business, or visiting friends and family. At the same time, China has expanded its 240-hour visa-free transit program to include 55 countries. Eligible travellers can now transit through China for up to 10 days without needing a visa, as long as they are en route to a third country.
Why this matters for international travellers
Indian students travelling to the UK, USA, or Australia via China can benefit from the 10-day transit stay without applying for a Chinese visa. Travellers from the Gulf region, especially those heading to China for short-term business or tourism, can skip the visa queue entirely. This move significantly reduces travel barriers and increases flexibility for multi-country itineraries.
Key conditions you should know
Travellers must have confirmed onward flights to a third country. Transit is only permitted through designated Chinese airports and cities. These visa-free options are not valid for study, employment, or media-related travel. Visitors should ensure all supporting documents, including accommodation and insurance details, are ready before departure.
